COBY LADWIG

Coby Ladwig grew up in Denmark, Western Australia and was often seen as a youngster playing in the vineyards where his mother worked after school. This meant it was only a matter of time before Coby joined the wine industry. Following his graduation from Curtin University in 2002, he returned to his hometown of Denmark. Coby has built a reputation for producing wines of quality that over deliver. He spent five years winemaking with West Cape Howe Wines including a vintage in Burgundy before joining Rockcliffe in 2007 where he was involved in designing and building the winery.

LUKE ECKERSLEY

Luke has been making wine since 2002 and is well regarded in the Western Australian wine industry. After completing his Bachelor of Science in Oenology and Viticulture at Curtin University he headed overseas to Europe and the US to gain international winemaking experience. Three years later he returned and began winemaking in Western Australia. After spending some time gaining further experience in Margaret River, Luke headed to the Great Southern in 2006 for a winemaking role with Forest Hill Wines and later to Rockcliffe Winery in 2012. Luke believes a wine is born in the vineyard, in that its potential has already been predetermined by the time it reaches the winery. It is his task, as a winemaker, to understand the potential and then, from the fruit selected, craft a wine which allows this potential to be truly expressed.

Both Coby and Luke have helped numerous WA wineries to achieve a 5 star Halliday wine rating.
